Near the location of the plane crash that took the lives of Paul and Sheila Wellstone, their daughter Marcia Markuson Wellstone, and our friends Tom Lapic, Will McLaughlin, and Mary McEvoy, we have worked with a group of supporters and friends to build a memorial and historic site to honor their memories. The memorial is a place of reflection and commemoration, where people can learn more about the Wellstone legacy and walk through interpretive trails.

Designs for the Wellstone Memorial and Historic Site were developed over 12 monts by a task force comprised of family and friends of the crash victims, planners, and designers. After a competitive bid process, the task force chose the landscape architecture firm of Sanders, Wacker, Bergly Inc. to design and implement plans for the site.

The Memorial and Historic Site is a major project that will likely cost more than $250,000. We have established a Wellstone Memorial Fund that will finance construction of the site. We hope you will consider making a tax-deductible financial contribution to help make the Wellstone Memorial and Historic Site sustainable.

We are proud and honored to present these plans to the public, and we hope to draw visitors from across the country to visit this fitting memorial to Paul and Sheila and the others we lost in the plane crash.
