Daniel Yang is a Community Organizer with the Native American Community Development Institute (http://www.nacdi.org/ ) in Minneapolis, MN. He grew up on the East Side of St. Paul and the Leech Lake Indian Reservation, reflecting his multi-cultural heritage of both Hmong and Anishinabe (Ojibwe) ancestry. He earned a BA in Political Science and Social Justice from Hamline University.
Daniel has worked extensively in Latin America on Indigenous rights issues with governments and social movements throughout the region. Most recently he worked in Venezuela on an Indigenous Anti-Poverty Campaign. The campaign was an initiative of the President's Office, where Daniel worked predominately with urban Indigenous homeless populations and impoverished rural Indigenous villages. Prior to his work in Venezuela, Daniel worked with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Eastern Africa. Daniel has also worked with the Minnesota Democratic-Famer-Labor Party and on numerous political campaigns. Daniel has in-depth community organizing experience both locally and internationally.
