Sara Beth Mueller (and you say that "Miller" - she, too, would like to understand why) comes to Wellstone Action after more than 10 years with Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota. She served most recently as Planned Parenthood's Communications Director, where her work on opposition messaging and tactics was replicated nationwide. She's also an AmeriCorps alumna, and spent two years post-college building and overseeing healthy youth development programs for junior-high-school kids, first in San Diego, and then in Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and Duluth.
Sara Beth graduated from Macalester College with a dual degree in English and Communication Studies. Knowing that social justice is where it's at, she pursued a dual master's degree in Public Health (MPH) and Social Work (MSW) at the University of Minnesota and is currently a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW). Her graduate research examined the intersection of sex, violence, and commerce, and included interviews with 178 women working in prostitution in the Twin Cities metro area. Women's rights as human rights continues to be terrifically important to Sara Beth, and she has served on the boards of both Pro-Choice Resources and Reproductive Health Alliance.
Along with colleague Ryan Greenwood, Sara Beth is one-half of the "critical mass of Owatonnans" on staff at Wellstone Action (although she was technically raised 10 miles to the west, in the tiny village of Meriden, and fondly recalls her 4-H days as a "Meriden Meadowlark"). She's also one-third of the NKOTB fans on staff, but is totally committed to protecting Peggy and DawnMarie's privacy on that.
