With all the political jargon and media spin
that goes on in politics today, it may seem impossible to find out
where your candidates stand on the issues that matter to you.
Despite the millions that candidates
spend on television advertising, elaborate databases, and campaign
events, most people will base their vote on information from people
within their social network who they trust and with whom they share
opinions.
Now that you have collected a vast
amount of information about local issues and how the candidates are
likely to act on those issues, it is important to put this information
together in order to make it available to the wider public.
Now that you have educated voters on an issue
that is important in your community and gathered their contact
information, you need to follow up to be sure that these voters are
wielding the power of their knowledge and taking it to the ballot box.
There are a number of great
organizations doing work to provide you with the resources you need to
research the candidates and issues and get the information out to the
public.
Each month
we focus on a new issue, this month it's Voter Education, and give you
some quick tips and "How To" information so that you can start making a
difference in your community.
